ABB Robotics is integrating NVIDIA Omniverse libraries into its RobotStudio programming and simulation suite to create RobotStudio HyperReality, a tool the company says will bring physically accurate simulation directly to production engineering workflows.
The move targets a longstanding industry challenge: closing the sim‑to‑real gap that separates virtual robot training from real‑world performance.
The integration embeds photorealistic, physics‑rich simulation into the tool used by more than 60,000 robotics engineers, enabling virtual design, programming, testing and validation of entire automation cells before hardware deployment.
RobotStudio HyperReality exports fully parameterized robot stations as USD files into Omniverse, where ABB’s virtual controller runs the same firmware as the physical robot, producing what the companies say is 99% correlation between simulation and real behaviour.
Synthetic images from Omniverse feed AI training pipelines and, combined with ABB’s Absolute Accuracy technology (reducing positioning errors from 8–15 mm to around 0.5 mm) aim to improve precision. ABB and NVIDIA say the technology can reduce deployment costs by up to 40%, accelerate time to market by as much as 50%, and cut setup and commissioning times by up to 80%.
Early pilots include Foxconn and U.S. robotics provider Workr, which are testing virtual training and synthetic‑data workflows ahead of wider rollouts.

“Combining RobotStudio with the physically accurate simulation power of NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, we have closed technology’s long-standing ‘sim-to-real’ gap, a huge milestone to deploying physical AI with industrial-grade precision, for real-world customer applications,” said Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics.
ABB is also exploring NVIDIA Jetson integration into its Omnicore controller for real‑time inference, the company said in a company blog post.
